Alexa just announced their new website rank system which will give a more accurate ranking of websites popularity.
What does Alexa say?
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes for several months and are excited to announce that our new Alexa Rankings system is available.”
The main difference is that Alexa rankings are now not just based up on the users with their toolbar installed but also several other sources. This will greatly increase the accuracy of the system, which Alexa have gotten a lot of negative publicity about because only their users was counted before into the calculation. They also changed their methodology, to even further improve rankings for all countries.
So what will this mean for my little project Alexa100in365days?
I had a website ranking 800 before for a few days, but know it`s probably a lot more difficult with the change of rank system. Alexa say they will post more info about their new system over the next months. So before I can fully start this project I will have to investigate what the system changes will mean for my project. I`ll be back with more information in a few days.

Knowledge is everything, so the first step is to learn everything there is to know about Alexa and post it in my Alexa100in365days blog (reach 100.000). Then implant everything I’ve learned and do some big scale testing to get around Alexa rank 2500 I hope. Finally put everything together and try to make my site rank as 100 most visited site by Alexa ranking in one day.
Timetable:
Step 1. 90 days learning period (rank 100.000)
Step 2. 180 days implanting everything I’ve learned (rank 2500)
Step 3. 95 days to reach my mission (rank 100)
Detailed explanation: Step 1 - 90 days learning period.
Everything start with knowledge, I’ll need a full information overview about Alexa and how it works. I’ll start by searching for sites about Alexa ranking, try to put all the pieces together. Then talk to people in forums and blogs about Alexa ranking, to get some opinions about the information I am reading and grow a contact database. While learning I’ll start testing in smaller scale to see if I get any good results with different techniques. The goal in this period is to reach bellow Alexa 100.000 and get Dailey stats in Alexa ranking (only the 100.000 most visited sites by Alexa get daily rank stats).
Step 2 - 180 days of implanting and large scale testing.
Hopefully thru the last 90 days I learned allot more about Alexa rankings and tested different ideas to see which’s works and don’t. So it’s time for big scale testing to get my site down under 10.000 and then close to 1000. I’ll probably have to start paying for advertising on the top ten ad networks by Alexa ranking and by this increasing my rank.
Step 3 - 95 days to reach Alexa 100 for one day. How and which techniques I will use to reach Alexa 100 rank is still to learn, but I know I will have to pay for advertise on the biggest ad networks with top Alexa ranking to make sure I get closer to my goal. And maybe, the media will love the idea and help this project reach its goal. Who knows? Anyway I hope by this to have learned enough to call me an Alexa Expert, which can be good to be in an world were example advertising agencies like Adbrite include such a ranking in their website.

Hello fellow Internet marketers!
Let me first introduce myself: My name is Trond Erik Jacobsen, I’m 27 years old from Norway. I’ve developed several successfully Internet marketing websites before, but for the last 2 years I`ve been working offline. The Internet marketing intrigues me, so I am destine to keep working with my Internet ideas on a hobby base.
Enough about me, here is my brand new idea: The idea is to get a website ranked among the world’s hundred most visited sites by the Amazon owned company Alexa for 1 day within 1 year. Your probably thinking, “impossible”, well maybe it is? But have anybody tried really hard on a project like this? Probably, so I am going to do it anyway. Why? Well I think I can at least reach bellow 1000 and then who knows what happens. Time will show.
How will I measure if the goal of this website is reached?
The Alexa rank of 100 by “Daily rank” not the “3 months average” will be the measure if I succeeded.
What will Alexa say about this website?
Well I hope they like the idea. If it`s successful, it will give them a lot of free PR. Any PR is good PR. I will only use legal techniques to reach my goal.
When does the 365 days count from?
Counter is not started yet. I will not visit this site with the Alexa toolbar or promote it before the project is 100% started and the counter is running.
